The ruling on wearing cologne
|
Question:
There has been much argument regarding the wearing of cologne; is it necessary for the Muslim who is a state of ritual purity to renew his ablution because of it, or to wash away what is on his body?
|
Answer:
The perfume commonly known as cologne is not free from the additive called spirit, which is an intoxicant, according to what we are informed by doctors. Therefore it should not be used and should be avoided in favour of some purer perfume.
As for making ablution because of it, it is not necessary….nor is it required to wash away the parts of the body affected by it, because there is no clear evidence that it is impure. And Allah is the Granter of success.
