This is not established from the Prophet (صلى الله عليه وعلى آله و سلم), further the handshake is something which is desired at all times. There is a hadith reported in Jaami’ at-Tirmidhee from the Prophet (صلى الله عليه وعلى آله و سلم) :
ما من مسلمين يلتقيان يتصافحان إلا غفر لهما…
There are no two Muslims who meet each other shaking each others hands except they will be forgiven… or with the likes of this meaning.
So the handshake is desired, as for specifying it to the Day of ‘Eid, singling it out from the rest of the days then this is not from Sunnah (Prophetic tradition) and this innovated affair will not cease except by people having understanding of the Book of Allaah and the Sunnah of the Messenger (صلى الله عليه وعلى آله وسلم). And it is incumbent upon the Caller to Allaah that he begins with the most important then the most important after that, so he prohibits them from what they have in terms of shirk and that they encourage them with submission to the Book of Allaah and the Sunnah of the His Messenger (صلى الله عليه وعلى آله وسلم) in seeking knowledge so that the people gain understanding of the Book of Allaah and the Sunnah of the Messenger of Allaah (صلى الله عليه وعلى آله وسلم).
الجواب : هو لم يثبت هذا عن النبي صلى الله عليه وعلى آله و سلم والمصافحة مرغب فيها في جميع الأوقات . جاء في جامع الترمذي عن النبي صلى الله عليه وعلى آلة وسلم " ما من مسلمين يلتقيان يتصافحان إلا غفر لهما " أو بهذا المعنى ، فالمصافحة مرغب فيها لكن تخصيص يوم العيد من بين سائر الأيام ليس بسنة ولا يزول هذا الأمر المحدَث إلا بتفقه الناس في كتاب الله وسنة رسوله صلى الله عليه وعلى آله وسلم وينبغي للداعي إلى الله أن يبدأ بالأهم فالمهم فينهاهم عن الشركيات ويرغبهم للانقياد لكتاب الله وسنة رسوله صلى الله عليه وعلى آله وسلم في طلب العلم حتى يفقه الناس كتاب الله وسنة رسول الله صلى الله عليه وعلى آله وسلم .
