Attending Sporting Events

Question:
Is it permissible for us to attend soccer matches?

Answer:
If you are not neglecting an obligatory deed, if you are not looking at the Awrah of others, and if animosity and bad feelings do not develop between Muslims who support different teams, you may attend, even though it is better not to attend. For the most part, attending sporting events is a diversion, preventing one from doing what is compulsory, and encouraging one to do what is unlawful. And with Allaah is the facilitation to do what is right. May Allaah send peace and blessings upon Muhammad, his family, and his Companions.
