| The Ruling on Shaking Hands after the Prayer regularly | | Question:
What is the legal ruling on shaking hands directly after the prayer, is it an innovation or a Sunnah? And (what is) the evidence for the ruling?
 |
| Answer:
We do not know any basis for the practice of shaking hands immediately after the obligatory prayer on a regular basis, in fact, it is an innovation and it has been authentically reported from the Messenger of Allaah (sallallaahu alaihi wa sallam) that he said: Whoever performed a deed which is not conformity with this matter (i.e. this religion) of ours, will have it rejected. [1] In one narration: Whoever innovated something in this matter (i.e. this religion) of ours that is not from it, will have it rejected. [2]
